Just in case you were wondering whether you can appease genocidal anti-Semites by giving up land, the answer is no:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad lashed out at Israel on Thursday, saying the Jewish state would not survive, even if it gave up land for a Palestinian state. He also dismissed allegations that his country is trying to make nuclear arms... The Iranian president repeated previous anti-Israel comments, calling the Holocaust a "fake" and saying that Israel is perpetrating a holocaust on the Palestinian people. The remarks appear to be part of Ahmadinejad's effort to deflect criticism at home over failed economic policies. Iran's inflation hit 27.6 percent last month.

What a pitch-perfect example of faux foreign policy sophistication. Ahmadinejad doesn't actually mean any of those things. It's just political maneuvering. What about how he's explicitly echoing the "Jews are Nazis" rhetoric of international anti-Semites who have no stake in Iranian electoral politics? Coincidence. And what about how the Supreme Leader of Iran - who is above Iranian electoral politics - is saying the exact same thing:

Iran's highest authority lashed out against Israel today with some of his harshest comments about the Jewish state in recent memory. Supreme leader Ali Khamenei, the black-turbaned ayatollah who is Iran's top political and military figure, said that Iran's hostility to Israel extended to the Israeli people, as well as the government, brushing aside recent peaceful overtures by top Iranian officials to ordinary people in the Jewish state. Khamenei said Iran and Israel were on a "collision course," a statement that could increase tensions in a Middle East already fearful of a conflict breaking out between the countries.

Bringing that up is probably just a distraction.

No need to worry though. Walt and Mearsheimer want you to know that Ahmadinejad is very much not inciting genocide. Sure he may sound like an apocalyptic genocide-inciting lunatic - what with all his "Israel is a germ" and "Israel is a stinking corpse" and "the lives of Zionists will soon come to an end" and "the Zionist regime will be erased" and "Israel will be swept away" rhetoric. But that's just because you're being unsophisticated.
