Romney Believes Dead-Beat Straight Parents Are Better Than Gay Parents
I don't like talking about professional flip-flopper and anti-gay advocate Mitt Romney all that much because I don't like giving this whack-job too much attention. But since he theoretically is a viable candidate for the Republican Presidential nomination, I couldn't ignore the following statement he made in which he prefers a divorced, absent, or dead(!?) straight parent over two loving gay parents:
Even when there's a divorce, you still have a mom and a dad. And even where one member of the partnership may pass away, the memory and the characteristics of that gender, of that partner influence the development of a child. I'm in favor of promoting, as a society, the marriage of men and women and the development of children in that kind of setting.
So let me get this straight. According to Romney, it seems that no matter how nasty, drunk, abusive, or absent a parent may be, so long as that parent is straight, the "memory" of that dead or dead-beat parent would be a better to "influence the development of a child" than two loving gay parents.
O.K. That makes sense.
