It offers quad-band GSM connectivity and EDGE network compatibility for easy communication and productivity wherever you roam. Whether for business or pleasure, you can easily connect to a projector or TV to present your files, photos and videos to a larger group. The stylish, ultra-slim slider E840 features a QVGA screen under its mirrored surface, Bluetooth stereo music streaming, and a 2-megapixel camera. This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides quad-band connectivity (850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). Powered by GPRS/EDGE Class 10 (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution) technology, this phone makes information exchange a breeze by offering immediate mobile connectivity. It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider.
This compact handset offers a large 262K color TFT screen with 240 x 320-pixel resolution on the mirrored, tempered glass front face. With 70 MB of internal memory, the E840 is designed to hold up to 1000 contacts. A call list remembers your 20 most recent missed, received and dialed calls, and in addition to a vibrating alert, the it supports polyphonic and MP3 ringtones. With the E840, Samsung introduces a new and expanded interface system, including:
- Jointly developed by Samsung and Adobe, uGo is an adaptive user interface that automatically responds to the user's environments. The main screen will display a landmark picture of the city you are located in, even adjusting the picture to the time of day or night, with added fun graphics and animation alerting you of missed phone calls and other information.
- You can create a personalized menu of shortcuts to frequently-used features using the uMenu function. Directly access your favorite functions without having to navigate through numerous menu screens. Time saving and convenient, My Menu puts you in control of your phone.
The 2.0-megapixel camera is equipped with a flash and 4x digital zoom so that you can get up close and personal. In addition, you can personalize your photos with the variety of picture-taking modes, photo effects and other options offered. It provides support for PictBridge technology so you can print your photos without the need of a PC (either using USB or Bluetooth). The camera also has video recording capabilities--offering compatibility with H.263 and MPEG4 video formats. With TV output support, the E840 can display image and video files on a television or onto a screen via a beam projector.
This phone provides Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity, and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can connect your laptop (either via Bluetooth or wired USB) and enjoy dial-up networking--surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server.

Customer reviews
Eye candy yet very functional too for those who want to stand out
In the cell phone world, you can either have looks good or works well. Yes you can make more categories but really these 2 suffice. An example would be the ridiculously-extravagant diamond Vertu vs an ugly clam shell Nextel phone the UPS driver might use after dropping this one at your house. This phone is a perfect blend between the two.
My previous Samsung D900 Black Carob was destroyed in a freak accident after 2 years of loving use. Heartbroken, I immediately searched online for another D900. Of course, several newer models had arrived similar to it such as the Ultra Edition II series phones (D900 was Ultra Edition I 12.9). I needed another quad band slider that was sexy, slim, and functional. I did not care for a good camera anymore though (no phone camera compares to a simple point and shoot even like Nokia N96 or SE K850i).
I chose the U600 and E840 for their light weight (81g vs 99g respectively) and sleek slider design. The former is an Ultra Edition II for its better 3MP camera. However, its touch keys were notoriously sensitive to the point where it called random people at the slightest movement in your pocket. The E840 though stole the crown for the slimmest slider in the world at 10.6 mm and it still felt sturdier than its counterpart. Lastly, the U600 was $50 more even if though it is an inferior product to the E840 partly due to marketing and awareness; very few people know about the E840 as the difference in the number of reviews shows and availability online only.
The phone's glossy front smudges easily but once clean looks gorgeous due to a 2.2" 240x320 screen (sunlight mode another plus against the u600's dim screen). I bought the noble blue color because the ice silver one was $20 more (also comes in pink and topaz gold but not black :( ) . Call quality is great. I didn't care for lack of 3G. I live in Texas and use T-Mobile and few places in America have the infrastructure to compete with high-tech ones in Japan and Europe so for you who care it's useless to complain about this. The touch buttons are at the right sensitivity level so no cons there. Overall, if you're coming from a D900 or similar Samsung phone, the software essentially is the same thing. FM radio only works with the headset plugged in but I rarely listen to it anyway so no worries. Battery life is subjective; I am a light user (rarely use mp3 player or camera, only for talking) whose avg phone convo lasts under 45 seconds with about 6 calls a day = 5 days no charging.
PS- If you want an update to the D900 without touch keys, buy the D900i for FM radio capability.
I OPENED THE BOX AND WAS BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!!
When I took this phone out the box I was soooo impressed with with the design and it looks alot more expensive than it actually is. The phone arrived in a blink of an eye (in two days WOW!!!)It's definitely eyecatching and worth every penny, I put my SIM CARD in and that was all I had to do! It has FM Radio capability and it's a great MP3 player, it's the slimmest & lightest phone i've ever had and I'm really happy with this purchase. I'll definitely be buying from MobileCity Online again!!! :-D
P.S It scratches very easily so I suggest buying a case when purchasing the phone.
hot!!!
when i first got this phone i was stunned by the sleek design. it works well and it was worth every bit of the money spent!!!
Great Product
Great phone, slim and lightweight product, also very durable. Not expensive, also good as a mp3 player.
