Alzheimer was a German psychiatrist and neuropathologist who first identified what is today called Alzheimer's Disease, a neurodegenerative disease found most commonly in people over age 65. He first observed the disease in a patient in 1901 and published his findings after a postmortem examination of her brain in 1906. By 1911, the disease was being diagnosed in patients throughout the US. What progress has been made in the treatment of this degenerative disease?
